Staffing goals should be like a destination, definite and clear
Each recruitment process is like a journey on an unfamiliar trail. The same is true for the recruiting staff. Even though you provide them directions as to who should do what and when, they need to have clear goals, like destinations, to enthusiastically follow through on the direction. When you set crystal clear goals for the staff, then you are actually directing their positive energy and enthusiasm to achieve those goals successfully.
When the path is clear the journey is smooth
When the goals are specific, measurable, relevant, timely and unambiguous, your staff understands clearly what is expected of them. This makes the journey toward the desired goal smooth. Right direction should be given to each of your staff by means of open communication. Help them understand your plans clearly so that they can achieve the desired results at the designated time. When they understand what they are working towards they feel a stronger sense of purpose. This in turn propels them to deliver the best results.
Provide a Yardstick to measure success
Once your recruiting goals are reached it would be helpful to measure how an employee efficiently contributed to your agency. When goals are set to fill a need, comparing their performance to the desired result will help you analyze and adjust your methods. The achievements of the organization should be clear to all. Past achievements of the organization help the employees see how things were done successfully and will encourage them to continue to perform better.
Use a stopwatch to watch the progress
Just as knowing when and where to start his race will help an athlete to perform efficiently, your employee should know the starting time and the ending time of each task. Every goal should have a fixed duration. Link the time spent to build your pool of candidates to actually hiring them. Instead of having your staff spend many hours building the pool, train them to reduce the number of interviews per recruitment.

Collaborative goals encourage team work. Just as each performer in a circus performs his role to perfection, collaborated goals help team members to perform their designated roles to perfection. Help them see how you tune your goals to your agencies mission and vision. Irrelevant goals might confuse the staff and diminish their enthusiasm.
Make the destination and the milestones toward the destination clear
Helping your staff see the long-term goals aids each member of your staff to contribute effectively. This will also help in evaluating specific areas that need adjustment. Just as a milestone indicates how far ahead we are in our journey or how far behind we are, attainable short-term goals help your staff to gauge their own performance. If there is a change in goals let them know. If your staff knows what the new goal is and why there was a change, they will feel more inclined to cooperate.
