When you set crystal clear goals for the staff, then you are actually directing their positive energy and enthusiasm to achieve those goals successfully.

When the goals are specific, measurable, relevant, timely and unambiguous, your staff understands clearly what is expected of them. This makes the journey toward the desired goal smooth. Right direction should be given to each of your staff by means of open communication. Help them understand your plans clearly so that they can achieve the desired results at the designated time. When they understand what they are working towards they feel a stronger sense of purpose. This in turn propels them to deliver the best results.

Just as a milestone indicates how far ahead we are in our journey or how far behind we are, attainable short-term goals help your staff to gauge their own performance. If there is a change in goals let them know. If your staff knows what the new goal is and why there was a change, they will feel more inclined to cooperate.
